ABOUT ME

I have been drawing and painting since 1977. I graduated from California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland, in 1984. I attended Kala International Printmaking Institute for 18 months. I painted abstract landscapes for 35 years. I always drew the figure but did not paint it until about five years ago. My current work is multimedia paintings. I make all the collage pieces from my own works and print them on paper and add them to the paintings along with bits and pieces I find on walks. Then I layer Cold Wax and Oil on the Cradled Birch support. I also make prints from original images I create for that purpose and print them on my Design Jet T230. I am greatly interested in sculpture made from detritus and other things I collect in hardware stores. Recently I made paintings on table rounds and I offer them in different heights and leg choices. Screens made to order with a person’s colors and mementos are very exciting to me also. My concerns are the space between, looking through, spirituality, meditation, color and line. Some of my work comes out rapidly but most is slowly layered over and over. I have been meditating for one to three hours a day since 1983, it improves my life and fuels the creation of my art.
